Хорошая статья по сборке ядра

Я понял в чем было дело. Я линки на asm и linux в include не закинул. Но теперь у меня еще одна проблема. Я собрал ядро (vmlinux), а оно не работает. Grub пишет Invalid or unsupported executable format. В properties у старого ядра MIME тип application/octet-stream а у моего ядра application/x-executable. Из-за чего это может быть?

P.S. И откуда мне взять новый initrd? при компиляции он не создался

Initrd создается командой mkinitrd, подробнее в мане.

как сложно все..
я ставил так -
tar xvfj linux-kernel-x-x-x -C /usr/src/
cd /usr/src/linux-kernel

выбираем в ядре опции
make menuconfig # если проблема с запуском - поставить ncurses-devel

потом

make clean
make all
make modules_install install

после ребута выбираем в списке нужное..
опробовано на fedora core

Я делел все как у mzd написано. Ядро делал командой make bzImage.

С помощью make install я всетаки сделал нормальный образ ядра, но теперь у меня kernel panic: cannot find /lib/modules/2.6.15.7-ubuntu1 no such file or directory. Хотя папка такая есть. Из-за чего это может быть?
